What Impact Does Apple Podcasts Have?

Podcasting has quickly become a significant component of most people’s media consumption habits. From running to commutes to relaxing at home, podcasts provide an easy and accessible way to stay informed about current events, entertainment, news, and learning something new – 50% of Americans currently listen to at least one podcast every month, according to one survey!
Apple Podcasts is the go-to app for podcasts, offering them for free on iOS 11 devices and with an user-friendly interface that allows for searching by topic or genre as well as downloading episodes for offline listening.
Apple Podcasts integrates Siri for voice-based control over playback, seamlessly streaming from one device to the next on the same Wi-Fi network, a 30-second fast forward button, and up to 2-fold speed increases for audio playback speed – as well as sharing episodes and playlists between devices.

What Is Your Podcast Listening Habit?

Spotify is one of the leading music and podcast streaming platforms on the market, boasting an expansive catalog that can be streamed anytime on any device. Plus, Spotify keeps a record of everything you’ve listened to over time so you can refer back to your history at any time; this feature is available both for desktop computers and mobile phones.
The Spotify desktop app includes a section on its home page that displays an overview of your playlist and podcast history. While not as comprehensive as its mobile equivalent, this summary is still useful for tracking listening habits and is also capable of removing songs from recently played lists if needed; to do this, simply navigate to an episode you wish to remove, then click its three-dot icon located in the upper right corner and click Unfollow; this will open a menu with additional options including “Unfollow,” which will remove it from streaming but keep it in your library versus streaming playlist only.
On mobile apps, you can easily view your playlist and podcast history by tapping the clock icon in the top right. This will display all the songs and podcast episodes you’ve listened to over time; day-by-day results can be narrowed down. In addition, mobile apps enable you to keep tabs on playlists and album history, as well as what songs have been added to the queue.
Spotify’s recently played history feature does not track your search history or share it with any third parties; rather, it uses your history to improve the recommendations it provides you. If you wish to delete or clear out your history, simply tap on the settings cog in the upper-right corner of your home screen.
You can remove podcasts from your subscribed shows on Spotify by opening their page and choosing “Followers.” This will stop receiving updates about it but will not delete any episodes you may already have downloaded to your phone.
