Apple Podcasts comes preloaded on your iPhone, and is completely free for use. It allows you to stream or download podcasts, with handy features like skipping backward or forward in 15-second increments.
The app also lets you configure master settings that apply to all shows, as well as episode-specific options, including notifications and whether to download episodes for offline listening without WiFi connectivity.

Podcasts have quickly become a widely-utilized medium for learning new things and staying informed on a wide array of subjects. By subscribing to your favorite shows using an appropriate app, they will automatically download for offline listening – perfect if you don’t always have access to Wi-Fi connections! If you’re curious but unsure where to begin listening, this guide will walk you through finding apps, creating and subscribing to shows as well as more!
Be sure to have Apple’s free Podcasts app installed, then use its “Browse” function at the bottom to explore various genres or search. When you find something you like, tap on it – this brings up a small interface with Play/Pause button, skip backward and forward buttons and an AirPlay button for streaming it to other devices. If you are not subscribed yet, tap “Plus Icon at Top” to add the show as one of your subscriptions; new episodes will then automatically arrive!
The options menu provides additional capabilities to customize the experience: adjusting playback speed, setting a Sleep Timer when it’s time for bed or skipping forward in short increments, hiding or showing Now Playing interface and controlling volume by swiping left or right on screen – as well as downloading shows so they’re available offline listening!
If you have recently upgraded your iPhone, transferring subscriptions and downloaded podcasts using the iCloud method for data synchronization between devices should be straightforward. Simply log into iTunes with your same account on both iPhones, and iTunes will load them onto the new one when first starting up – an effective method that avoids third-party apps or services altogether.

Podcasts have quickly become a favorite alternative to streaming music and radio; with mobile phones like iPhones allowing access, podcasts are easy to enjoy at any time! How can I start listening to podcasts?
Downloading a podcast app is the first step towards streaming podcasts, such as Apple’s Podcasts app or other available options from the App Store. Once installed, launch it up and tap its magnifying glass search icon to reach its podcast page; here you can explore available titles or search specifically by name.
Once you find a podcast you want to subscribe to, tap its icon. This will add it to your subscriptions and download new episodes as they are released automatically. To skip an episode simply swipe up or tap “skip.” For optimal listening speed you can also adjust playback speed accordingly.
Downloading and streaming podcasts are only half of what the Podcasts app can do; with it you can also share your selections with family and friends via iTunes, Apple Podcasts or Spotify. They’ll be able to listen on their iPhone or iPad as well as stream a selection of your playlists. To share a podcast simply select it then tap the three-dot icon at the top right corner and tap Filters; once satisfied with your selection just tap Share Icon for export to device.
If you’re having difficulty hearing a podcast, try restarting Apple Podcasts app on your iPhone or iPad to resolve issues related to audio output, such as poor Wi-Fi or cellular data connection strength. If this does not solve the problem, reach out directly to audio content creator and request they send you their RSS feed manually.

Those on mobile data plans with limited capacity should download episodes of podcasts they enjoy early for offline listening. When doing so, each podcast will save an episode to your device automatically for later playback; depending on which app service it uses and their specific instructions on this matter. Typically when subscribing and adding episodes to your library a download icon appears; tapping this allows for later downloading of episodes for playback at another time.
Apple Podcasts is not the only app offering podcast services; other options include Spotify, Stitcher and iHeartRadio. Some of these can even allow for offline listening with additional subscription fees necessary for this feature.
Podcasts are typically audio content; however, some are also available in video form on sites like YouTube and some podcasters host these videos on their websites. If a podcast offers both formats, this information should be displayed on its episode details page in an app.
For Apple Podcasts app users, the easiest way to share an episode is by going directly to its information page and tapping the icon that resembles a share link icon – this will generate a URL which you can copy-paste into any website or social media platform and share directly. Or simply choose Share from the main menu of the app!
Podcasts app on an iPhone is integrated with Handoff, a service that enables you to start activities on one device and continue them on another device seamlessly. To activate this feature, go into Settings > General > Handoff toggle switch > green > switch. To get it all going, make sure your connection has data and then use Handoff!
Use the Podcasts app on your phone to quickly find new podcasts to listen to by navigating to either its Browse or Explore pages. Here, you will discover trending content and popular shows in various categories; additionally, use the search bar at the top of the screen to search by name for specific podcasts.

Smartphones are one of the best ways to access podcasts. Many modern phones include an app called Apple Podcasts which features many useful features for podcast listening, such as subscribing, downloading, streaming shows, and browsing to new episodes easily. You may also consider other podcast apps such as Overcast or Pocketcasts to keep yourself entertained!
Car stereos offer another good way to enjoy podcasts. Most cars today feature Bluetooth connectivity that you can use for making hands-free calls as well as playing audio from your phone – this feature can also be used to listen to podcasts via your device and selecting it in its app – and should start automatically playing episodes! You could also listen via computer headphones or speakers using any program such as iTunes; many podcasts come as MP3 files that can be opened directly within any software program on your PC or downloaded using iTunes specifically.
YouTube provides many podcasts as a listening option as well. Subscribers of YouTube Premium can listen in video form with added features like picture-in-picture and the ability to pause/replay episodes.
Remember that streaming a podcast requires internet connectivity and could rapidly deplete your data plan or battery power. If this concerns you, alternatively downloading them before listening can provide offline listening capabilities.
If you are having difficulties listening to podcasts, checking your network quality or restarting the app could help. If that fails, deleting all downloaded podcasts before starting over might also help.
Subscribing to podcasts is one of the best features of any podcast app and is simple and straightforward. Once you follow (subscribe or subscribe) a show, its episodes will arrive automatically as soon as they become available in your Podcasts app.
