Want to Listen Faster?

Podcasts can be an effective way to engage your brain while keeping time ticking away, yet many episodes take up far more of it than you anticipate. Some podcasters have turned to speeding up episodes to save listeners some time – this may save some listeners some time, but while this may save listeners time, it can also reduce listener experience, particularly for shows requiring in-depth listening like Lifehacker’s The Upgrade or Krista Tippett’s On Being. Luckily, your iPhone allows you to change its speed so that more episodes can be completed quickly!
To increase or decrease the speed of a podcast on your iPhone, open up the podcast app and select an episode. Tap on the button in the bottom-left corner of the playback area to increase it to 1x; alternatively, you can change the playback speed via the settings menu. If you wish to reduce speed back down, simply tap back on the button again.
An alternative way of speeding up podcasts is using apps like Overcast. This app automatically increases podcast speed by a percentage, and you can select from 1.5x and 2x speeds depending on your personal preferences. These applications save time but won’t always work; for instance, Welcome to Nightvale may require careful consideration at higher speeds.
If your podcast queue is overwhelming, deleting older episodes from it can help speed things up without compromising quality. Doing this will free up space on your phone and let you focus on newer ones more easily.
Use a web hosting service to increase download speed for your podcasts. This will improve user experience as Google uses loading times as one of its ranking signals. The top hosting providers offer various features, such as audio file uploading and auto-publishing to podcast platforms, as well as customizable media players – plus comprehensive analytics that tell you exactly how fast your site is performing!

What’s the Rush?

Podcasts have quickly become a go-to way to stay informed while cooking dinner or sitting in traffic, but some listeners find it time-consuming to finish an episode. Luckily, many podcasts can be enjoyed at a faster speed without any loss in comprehension; just use your iPhone audio controls to adjust playback speed: tap “1x” at the bottom left to select one of five playback speeds!
Humans typically speak at 120 to 200 words per minute. Though our brain understands spoken language faster than written text, it takes longer for it to convert each sound into meaning – taking roughly one second for understanding an “e” letter and three-quarters of a minute to comprehend “steak.” Thankfully podcasts, which feature clearer enunciation and structure than conversations can be enjoyed faster without losing comprehension.
Some podcast apps, like Overcast, even go as far as to remove pauses from podcasts in order to speed up their show and reduce listening time. While this might be beneficial in certain instances, it also eliminates subtleties of conversation while distorting speech rhythm.
Podcasts should be enjoyable experiences rather than chores to finish. With so many podcasts out there to choose from, it is key that you choose those that are both interesting and educational. Furthermore, try listening at their intended speed so you can fully appreciate how a speaker delivers their words, and the story progresses organically.
Podcasting is an indispensable marketing strategy for companies looking to reach customers and create relationships with them. It can help companies like tech startups promote their product or apparel brands to reach niche audiences; podcasts are an effective way of engaging them and driving sales. Furthermore, podcasts often include links back to products or websites in an effective multichannel marketing approach.
