How Can Google Podcast Enhance Your Listening Experience?

After introducing podcasts into its Search app, Google has released its standalone Podcast app for iOS and Android users. This new app offers features to enhance listeners’ podcast listening experiences no matter their location or device of choice; plus provides podcasters a great platform to showcase their shows to potential audiences. To successfully utilize Google Podcasts it’s crucial to learn its interface before use!
To listen to a podcast, tap or swipe up from the bottom of your app to activate its interface featuring podcast cover images and episode titles as well as play, pause, and skip forward/back buttons and a scroll bar for jumping ahead to various sections and queue button which shows current episode playing as well as what is next in your queue. Furthermore, the playback speed can be adjusted manually without distorting voices, while there is also an option that automatically edits out silent portions during an episode.
For anyone hoping to start their own podcast, the first step should be setting up an account with a podcast hosting service. Many hosts offer RSS feeds which you can use to distribute your show; once done, submit this feed directly to Google Podcasts so they can add it into their catalogue; if your podcast meets their standards it should appear search results on their app, Google Assistant and other platforms.
Registering your show with Google Podcasts can help your show reach new audiences and is an easy, free way of making it available for download. Plus, using the Google Podcasts Manager tool you can gain more insight into who your audience is as well as their interaction with your content – this knowledge could prove invaluable when making improvements and changes to your podcast!

How do I discover new shows on Google Podcast?

After subscribing to a podcast, the app will automatically download new episodes and put them in your queue. It also keeps track of where you left off in any given episode so if you need to leave or pause playback for any reason, you can return and resume from where you left off later. Moreover, some podcasts allow offline listening so you can listen without internet connectivity!
The podcast app’s home screen displays a horizontal carousel of your subscriptions with an easily navigable search bar at the top. Its design makes for simple navigation and no distractions; once you begin listening to podcasts and subscribing to them, your home screen will adapt based on your listening activity and provide more targeted recommendations based on categories like News, Culture, Comedy and Technology; additionally an episode listing will display all your subscribed podcasts.
When selecting an episode from your Home screen, a play indicator appears at the bottom of your screen, while swiping up brings up a podcast interface featuring its main image for that show, episode title and play/pause/forward/back buttons as well as scroll bar for skipping through different parts of an episode. Furthermore, any notes provided by podcast creators (such as external links for things mentioned or discounts offered in relation to topics covered during an episode) will also appear here.
Your playlists, organized by albums, can be found in the bottom-left corner of the screen in a menu. When clicking on one, episodes will be listed by release date with the most recently available one at the top. Furthermore, this menu offers access to your subscriptions, activity, and queue.
Google Podcasts can be an excellent way for podcasters to reach a wider audience. Searches using relevant terms will allow your show to be found, provided it meets Google Podcast’s guidelines for RSS feeds. With the Google Podcast Manager you can easily update any details related to your show such as descriptions, logos or host names as they change. Once updated Google may take several hours up to several days to index your RSS feed and list it within its results pages.
